The construction of a new 600m2 single storey health centre. The new building has five GP consulting rooms, a dedicated healthcare assistant room, two treatment rooms, hot-desking facilities for visiting healthcare workers and a spacious waiting room.
The building was designed to be energy efficient having high levels of insulation, maximising the use of natural light and using a biomass boiler for the heating installation.
Shortly after starting on site we uncovered a Bronze Age burial cist. As well as the skeletal remains a stone wrist guard for use in archery and sections of a pot with a distinctive decoration were also unearthed.
Typical of MM Miller’s practical approach when unexpected situations arise on site we fenced off the burial cist to allow the authorities to inspect the archaeology and then we carried on working in another part of the site to ensure this matter did not delay the programme.
